Volgens de principes van het Nieuwe Bouwen door J.A.Brinkman en L.C. van der Vlugt in 1930-31 in opdracht van de familie De Bruyn ontworpen geheel vrijstaand WOONHUIS met GARAGE. Het bevat twee bouwlagen aan de O-zijde en drie aan de W-zijde en is samengesteld uit cubische bouwvolumes die alle plat zijn afgedekt, met een smalle daklijst; de lage, op het NW-georienteerde dubbele garage is door middel van een smalle tussenbouw met het woonhuis verbonden. Het geheel is opgetrokken in baksteen, met vlakke witgepleisterde muren op een zwart betegelde plint en doorbroken door iets verdiept aangebrachte vensters, waarvan de varierende grootte is gebaseerd op een vaste maat-eenheid, en door luifels en in- en uitspringende balcons met stalen buisleuningen. De vensters en deuren zijn gevat in smalle stalen kozijnen met horizontale en verticale onderverdeling en zijn harmonisch over de gevels verdeeld, nu eens gekoppeld dan weer zelfstandig geplaatst.
De hoofdingang bevindt zich uiterst rechts in de O-gevel, in het teruggerooide gedeelte en bevat een halfopen portiek met stoep, voorzien van een gebogen stalen buisleuning; de stalen deur heeft een klein cirkelvormig venster. In gespiegelde vorm bevindt zich een leveranciersingang uiterst links aan de W-zijde. De O-gevel bevat verder nog in het midden een klein terras, en rechts op de verdieping een klein balcon. De smalle N-gevel bezit ter hoogte van de beide verdiepingen een groot, langgerekt venster ter verlichting van het trappenhuis; op de beganegrond sluit hierop een smalle horizontale vensterreeks aan; de plint wordt hier en aan de W-zijde eveneens doorbroken door lage horizontale vensters, ter verlichting van de kelder. De W-gevel bevat verder rechts van de leveranciersingang een smalle, uitgebouwde schoorsteen die boven het huis uitsteekt; op de begane grond sluit hierop een uitgebouwde keuken aan en bij de tussenbouw vertoont de gevel wederom een uitwaartse sprong voor een kleine uitbouw, die ook aan de Z-zijde een venster bezit, uitziend over het op de ZW-hoek ingerichte terras, dat overhuifd wordt door een betonnen luifel die iets hoger is dan de uitbouw te linkerzijde, maar die aan de Z-zijde rechts doorloopt in het balcon op de eerste verdieping. De Z-gevel vertoont rechts bij het lagere O-blok eveneens een inwaartse sprong en bevat voorts op de derde verdieping een tweede balcon dat links wordt overhuifd door een op stalen kolommen rustende luifel en dat rechts overgaat in het open dakterras boven het lagere O-blok.
De dubbele garage is in vergelijkbare trant - met een reeks lage bovenlichten uitgevoerd.
Woonhuis met garage vanwege de algehele architectonische en technische vormgeving (in zowel exterieur als interieur) en de situering als gaaf en representatief voorbeeld van de Nederlandse bijdrage aan het Nieuwe Bouwen uit de periode 1920-40 van algemeen belang wegens de betekenis voor de ontwikkeling van de moderne architectuur.

Description
Designed in 1930-31 by J.A. Brinkman and L.C. van der Vlugt according to the principles of the Nieuwe Bouwen on commission of the De Bruyn family, a completely detached DWELLING HOUSE with GARAGE. It contains two storeys on the east side and three on the west side and is composed of cubic building volumes all with flat roofs, with a narrow cornice; the low, north-west-oriented double garage is connected to the dwelling house by means of a narrow intermediate structure. The whole is built in brick, with flat whitewashed walls on a black tiled plinth and interrupted by slightly recessed windows, of which the varying size is based on a fixed unit of measure, and by canopies and projecting and recessed balconies with steel tube railings. The windows and doors are set in narrow steel frames with horizontal and vertical division and are harmoniously distributed across the facades, now coupled together, now placed independently.
The main entrance is situated at the far right in the east facade, in the recessed section and contains a half-open portico with steps, furnished with a curved steel tube railing; the steel door has a small circular window. In mirrored form there is a service entrance at the far left on the west side. The east facade further contains a small terrace in the middle, and on the upper storey a small balcony to the right. The narrow north facade has a large, elongated window at the level of both storeys for lighting the staircase; on the ground floor a narrow horizontal row of windows adjoins it; the plinth is interrupted here and on the west side likewise by low horizontal windows, for lighting the basement. The west facade further contains, to the right of the service entrance, a narrow, projecting chimney that protrudes above the house; on the ground floor an extended kitchen adjoins it and at the intermediate structure the facade again shows an outward projection for a small extension, which also has a window on the south side, overlooking the terrace fitted out on the south-west corner, which is covered by a concrete canopy that is somewhat higher than the extension to the left, but which continues on the south side to the right into the balcony on the first storey. The south facade likewise shows an inward projection to the right by the lower east block and further contains, on the third storey, a second balcony which is covered on the left by a canopy resting on steel columns and which on the right opens into the open roof terrace above the lower east block.
The double garage is executed in comparable manner - with a row of low fanlights.
Dwelling house with garage by virtue of its overall architectural and technical design (in both exterior and interior) and its situation as an intact and representative example of the Dutch contribution to the Nieuwe Bouwen from the period 1920-40 is of general importance because of its significance for the development of modern architecture.
