Inleiding
Evenwijdig aan de straat gelegen in ambachtelijke stijl gebouwde KOSTERIJ met bedrijfsgedeelte in het achterhuis, gebouwd omstreeks 1850 in opdracht van de Hervormde Kerk van Eelde. In 1972 is het geheel met zorg verbouwd door J. Steringa uit Eelde. De oorspronkelijke indeling van de achter- en zijgevel is evenwel gewijzigd.
Omschrijving
Langgerekt verdiepingloos gebouw opgetrokken uit baksteen en gedekt door een aan een zijde afgewolfd schilddak belegd met een geglazuurde oud-hollandse pan; schoorstenen; geprofileerde daklijst; gepleisterde plint; ramen met rollaag; paneeldeur met sierrooster en levensboom; inrijdeur aan straatzijde met (deels gewijzigde) invulling.
Waardering
De voormalige kosterij is van cultuurhistorisch belang vanwege de vroegere gecombineerde functie van kosterij en agrarisch bedrijfje en vanwege de relatie met de bijgelegen van rijkswege beschermde Hervormde Kerk; van architectuurhistorisch belang vanwege materiaalgebruik en vormgeving als ook vanwege de afwijkende, langgerekte hoofdvorm.

Parallel to the street, a SEXTON'S HOUSE built in artisanal style with business premises in the rear building, constructed around 1850 on behalf of the Reformed Church of Eelde. In 1972 the whole was carefully renovated by J. Steringa from Eelde. However, the original layout of the rear and side facades has been altered.
Description
Elongated single-storey building constructed of brick and covered by a hipped roof curved on one side and tiled with glazed old-Dutch tiles; chimneys; moulded cornice; rendered plinth; windows with roll moulding; panel door with decorative grille and life tree; carriage entrance on the street side with (partly altered) infilling.
Valuation
The former sexton's house is of cultural-historical importance because of its former combined function of sexton's house and small agricultural business and because of its relationship with the nearby nationally protected Reformed Church; of architectural-historical importance because of material use and design as well as because of its distinctive, elongated main form.
