The register's description

Designed in 1930 according to the principles of the Nieuwe Bouwen by P. Elling, a completely detached DWELLING HOUSE WITH GARAGE. It is composed of cubic building volumes, each with a flat roof and comprising two storeys – whereby the entirety in the square ground plan designed residential block possesses a roof with overhang and the lower, N.E. oriented, long service wing does not – and built with completely flat whitewashed walls, broken by windows set in narrow steel frames, always placed near the corners and symmetrically per facade, which in the residential block possess an almost square form with asymmetrical glazing bars, alternated by small windows, and which in the service wing are almost a quarter the size and are almost always coupled in threes in a horizontal window strip.

The main entrance – a steel door with circular window and step – is located in the middle of the N.W. facade, near the division between residential block and service wing, whereby the canopy above this entrance extends over the entirely left-positioned, forward-projecting garage and also over the side entrance placed in the middle of the service wing, likewise with low step.

The S.W. facade contains on the upper storey in the middle a balcony accessible from two rooms with steel tube railings, as does the S.E. facade of the residential block; the S.E. facade of the service wing has on the upper storey in the left half large windows with low horizontal glazing bars and for the rest the same smaller windows as elsewhere.

The N.E. wing of the service wing is provided with windows only on the upper storey – coupled in fives – and otherwise completely blank. In the E. corner a narrow, black-coloured chimney stack is provided which passes through both the service wing and residential block from below.

Dwelling house, owing to its overall architectural and technical design (both exterior and interior) and situation, notwithstanding the bright blue stripe applied later on the N.E. facade – is a representative example of the Dutch contribution to the Nieuwe Bouwen from the period 1920-40 of general interest due to its significance for the development of modern architecture.
