'Landhuis Zijlstra'. In 1933 naar ontwerp van Ir J.B. van Loghem (1881-1940) voor de familie Zijlstra ontworpen woonhuis met de algemene kenmerken van de Nederlandse bijdrage aan het Nieuwe Bouwen uit de periode 1920-1940. Oorspronkelijke kleurstelling: wit voor het stucwerk, zwart voor de plinten en zilvergrijs voor de stalen profielen.
Geheel vrijliggend, twee lagen op souterrain tellend, gebouw, samengesteld uit drie als het ware in U-vorm loodrecht op elkaar staande vlakgedekte rechthoeken en opgetrokken in een gedeeltelijke skeletbouw-constructie, deels van massief aerocrete of daarmee bekleed.
Twee lagen tellend in gedeeltelijke skeletbouw-constructie op zwartgeteerde bakstenen voet opgetrokken vlakgedekt twee lagen tellend gebouw op U-vormige plattegrond; de drie poten der U-vorm op verdiepingshoogte met elkaar verbonden door middel van een met glazen panelen afgeschermd zonneterras; toegang tot garage in het souterrain aan de westzijde, vanwaar twee trappen van breuksteen voeren naar respectievelijk het terras aan de zuidzijde en de keukendeur aan de noordzijde.
In de zuidgevel een dubbele reeks aaneengeschakelde openslaande vensters gevat in stalen profielen; beide omgaand in de westelijke en oostelijke gevels, respectievelijk met twee vensters op de beganegrond en een venster op de verdieping; op de hoeken dunne stalen kolommen, waarop de in het zicht gelaten eveneens omlopende stalen I-profielen rusten.
In de oostgevel keukendeur waarnaast twee gekoppelde vensters en een rechthoekig venster beganegronds en twee dito vensters op de verdieping. De gevel van het even uitstekende westelijke blok - dat beganegronds gedeeltelijk op stalen I-profielen rust die tevens de liggende I-profielen van het zonneterras op de verdieping dragen, waardoor het overdekte terras op de beganegrond wordt gevormd - is voorzien van enkele kleinere rechthoekige vensters en garage-deuren in het souterrain.
Aan terraszijde zijn de gevels der drie blokken voorzien van enkele deuren en rechthoekige vensters. Deuren en vensters van verschillende afmetingen doch meestal volgens bepaalde onderlinge verhoudingen.
Woonhuis, vanwege de algehele architectonische en technische vormgeving, met name wat betreft het exterieur, en vanwege de vrije op de natuur gerichte ligging, van belang als zeer gaaf en representatief voorbeeld van de Nederlandse bijdrage aan het Nieuwe Bouwen uit de periode 1920-1940, van algemeen belang wegens de betekenis voor de ontwikkeling van de moderne Nederlandse bouwkunst.

'Landhuis Zijlstra'. Residential building, on account of the overall architectural and technical design, in particular as regards the exterior, and on account of the free location facing nature, of significance as a very well-preserved and representative example of the Dutch contribution to the Nieuwe Bouwen from the period 1920-1940, of general importance on account of its significance for the development of modern Dutch architecture.
