Pand deeluitmakend van de op rechthoekige grondslag met twee drie-zijdige erkers aan de beide ingangszijden onder mansarde-achtige kap opgetrokken dubbelvilla, oorspronkelijk genaamd "Meerlhuis" (nr.5) respectievelijk "Meezennest" (nr.7), met gekoppelde schoorstenen ter markering van de middenportieken, ontworpen in 1917-18 door M. Kropholler in Amsterdamse Schoolstijl als onderdeel van het villapark "Meerwijk". De met afgeschuinde zijden inspringende ingangsportieken bevatten driezijdig beëindigde deuren met ruitvormige top-vensters terwijl tussen de hoog oprijzende schoorstenen een kelkvormig venster is aangebracht ter verlichting van het trappenhuis; de hoeken van de portieken worden evenals de toppen der schoorstenen en de hoeken van de erkers benadrukt door uitkragend metselwerk. De vensters zijn steeds gekoppeld in alle gevels; bij de westelijke vensters resteert alleen bij het "Meezennest" nog het luik; aan deze zijde is dakkapel opgenomen evenals aan de oostzijde, waarop verder nog een lage rietkap aansluit die steunt op de erfscheidingsmuur en die verder slechts een open ruimte overhuift. Description
Building forming part of a double villa with rectangular ground plan and two three-sided oriels on both entrance sides under a mansard-like roof, originally named "Meerlhuis" (no. 5) and "Meezennest" (no. 7) respectively, with coupled chimneys marking the central porches, designed in 1917-18 by M. Kropholler in Amsterdam School style as part of the villa park "Meerwijk". The entrance porches with chamfered recessing sides contain doors ending in three sides with diamond-shaped top windows, while between the tall-rising chimneys a bell-shaped window has been installed for lighting the stairwell; the corners of the porches are emphasized, as are the tops of the chimneys and the corners of the oriels, by projecting masonry. The windows are always paired on all facades; on the western windows only the "Meezennest" retains a shutter; on this side a roof dormer is incorporated as well as on the east side, which further adjoins a low thatched roof supported on the boundary wall and which further covers only an open space.
