Omschrijving
BORDESTRAPPEN MET KEERMUUR EN VOORMALIGE FONTEIN. Monumentale compositie van bordestrappen op de hoofdas van de parkaanleg. De aanleg van bordestrappen staat in nauw verband met de meer in noordoostelijke richting gelegen aanleg van bordestrappen met keermuren, balustrades, pijlers en smeedijzeren poort. De aanleg is opgebouwd uit twee rechte Naamse stenen trappen van elk 11 treden, die aan de bovenzijde door een rechthoekig bordes van elkaar worden gescheiden, een voormalige fontein centraal aan de voorzijde van de keermuur van de trappen en het bordes en een brede rode bakstenen muur, die het hoger gelegen gedeelte van het park naar de lager gelegen voormalige parterre tussen de bordestrappen in keert. De onderste trede van de trappen eindigen in een voluut.
De Naamse stenen keermuren van de trappen vertonen een trapezium-vormige indeling in vakken. Aan weerszijden van de keermuur van het bordes een Naamse stenen blokpijler. Centraal in deze keermuur, die licht boogsgewijs naar voren uitzwenkt, een segmentboog-nis met spuitgat van de voormalige fonteinen en een segmentboog-vormig naar voren uitzwenkend waterbekken (deels verruineerd). Het gedeelte van de keermuur rondom de nis met fontein en waterbekken is in twee rechthoekige en twee deels gebogen Naamse stenen vakken geleed. In het centrum wordt de rode bakstenen keermuur, die van Naamse stenen deklijsten is voorzien, door een recht op het bordes gesitueerde Naamse stenen trap van 3 treden onderbroken. Aan weerszijden van de trap een Naamse stenen blokpijler, die als keermuur van de trap is doorgetrokken. Oorspronkelijk waren het bordes, de trappen en de keermuur van smeedijzeren balustrades in Lodewijk XVI-stijl voorzien .
De aanleg van bordestrappen werd waarschijnlijk aan het eind van de 18e eeuw door G. Moretti ontworpen.

Description
FLIGHT OF STEPS WITH RETAINING WALL AND FORMER FOUNTAIN. Monumental composition of flights of steps on the main axis of the park layout. The construction of the flights of steps is closely related to the layout of flights of steps with retaining walls, balustrades, pillars and wrought-iron gate situated more to the northeast. The layout is constructed from two straight Namur stone staircases of 11 steps each, which at the top are separated from each other by a rectangular landing, a former fountain centrally at the front of the retaining wall of the steps and the landing, and a broad red brick wall, which retains the higher part of the park towards the lower former parterre between the flights of steps. The bottom step of the staircases ends in a volute.
The Namur stone retaining walls of the staircases display a trapezoidal subdivision into panels. On either side of the retaining wall of the landing a Namur stone block pillar. Centrally in this retaining wall, which curves slightly forward, a segmental arch niche with spray hole of the former fountains and a segmental arch-shaped forward-curving water basin (partly ruined). The section of the retaining wall around the niche with fountain and water basin is articulated into two rectangular and two partly curved Namur stone panels. In the centre the red brick retaining wall, which is provided with Namur stone coping, is interrupted by a straight staircase of 3 steps situated on the landing, made of Namur stone. On either side of the staircase a Namur stone block pillar, which is carried through as the retaining wall of the staircase. Originally the landing, the staircases and the retaining wall were furnished with wrought-iron balustrades in Louis XVI style.
The layout of the flights of steps was probably designed by G. Moretti at the end of the 18th century.
