Omschrijving
Inleiding.

Description
Introduction.
A detached mansion house built in neo-renaissance by N. Molenaar in 1901. The interior was adapted in 1902 to the wishes of the first resident H.J. van der Weele. Description.
Mansion house on a rectangular ground plan, consisting of ground floor and first storey under a hipped roof, two bays wide. The facades are of brick, interrupted by the layers of white limestone characteristic of neo-renaissance. The left side is built up into a corner turret under a tent roof with ornament. On the right side, the first storey is built out as an oriel window, above which is a balcony with wooden balusters. Striking are the large glass areas of the windows of the oriel, belonging to the studio on this storey. The front door, provided with panels and fanlight and sidelights, is situated in a recessed niche. The fanlights on the ground floor are of leaded glass. Against the rear is a conservatory with leaded glass fanlights. The house possesses an exceptional interior, in which elements from earlier centuries have been incorporated. The rooms on the ground floor, the first and the second storeys contain, among other things, chimneypieces in the Louis XIV and Louis XV style. The studio on the first storey has a 17th-century timber lining composed from various parts, a 17th-century door and a probably 17th-century chimneypiece composed from various parts. The chimney hood continues as a cornice profile over a large part of the room wall. The staircase is provided with a heavy newel post from around 1700; the remaining balusters are 18th-century. The leaded glass window in the stairwell dates from the second quarter of the 17th century. Appreciation.
Property of architectural historical value as a representative example of a neo-renaissance mansion house with intact interior. Through the incorporation of primarily 17th- and 18th-century elements in an early 20th-century building, the property has also art-historical and rarity value.
