Inleiding.
Toonzaal uit 1902-1903 in overgangsarchitectuur met gebruik van eclectische vormen gebouwd in opdracht van een fietsenhandelaar door de architect Z. Hoek. Het pand is opgenomen in de straatwand met aaneengesloten bebouwing. Omschrijving.
Pand op rechthoekige plattegrond bestaande uit drie bouwlagen onder kap. De toonzaal bestond van oorsprong uit een ongedeelde ruimte met gaanderijen over twee verdiepingen. De voorgevel is opgebouwd uit ijzer en glas. Door de toepassing van een glasgevel en ijzeren draagconstructie wordt hier gebroken met de conventionele opvattingen over gevelarchitectuur. De glazen façade heeft een grote rondboog over twee verdiepingen, waarin balustervormige houten ondersteuningen en ijzeren horizontale puibalken. Boven de grote rondboog is een reeks van smalle, getoogde vensters over de gehele gevelbreedte. Opvallend is het schuin geplaatste fries van de kroonlijst. Voor het uiterlijk is gebruik gemaakt van de classicistische vormentaal met figuratieve schilderingen in de frontonvormige gevelbekroning betrekking hebbend op het fietsenmakersvak en "schilderingen" in het onderliggende fries met klassiek-Griekse figuren. De smalle eindpenanten van de gevel eindigen als consoles met een mannenkop. Op de begane grond is de entree verdiept gelegen, met aan weerszijde van het portiek etalagekasten met bewerkte ijzeren zuiltjes op hardstenen basement. De houten deur in het portiek met bovenlicht is uit de bouwtijd. Waardering.

Building on rectangular ground plan consisting of three storeys under roof. The showroom originally consisted of an undivided space with galleries over two storeys. The front façade is constructed of iron and glass. Through the application of a glass façade and iron load-bearing structure, conventional ideas about façade architecture are broken with here. The glass façade has a large round arch over two storeys, in which baluster-shaped wooden supports and iron horizontal shop-front beams. Above the large round arch is a series of narrow, arched windows across the entire façade width. Striking is the obliquely placed frieze of the cornice. For the appearance, the classicist formal language was used with figurative paintings in the pediment-shaped façade crown relating to the bicycle-maker's trade and "paintings" in the underlying frieze with classical Greek figures. The narrow end pilasters of the façade terminate as consoles with a male head. On the ground floor the entrance is sunken, with display cases with worked iron columns on a hard stone basement on either side of the portico. The wooden door in the portico with fanlight is from the building period. Evaluation.
