Inleiding.
Vrijstaande kiosk, gebouwd in 1924-1925 in kubistisch-expressionistische trant naar ontwerp van H.P. Berlage in samenwerking met Piet Zwart. De kiosk maakt deel uit van het door genoemde architecten ontworpen totale herinrichtingsplan van het Buitenhof en de weg langs de Gevangenpoort. De kiosk had in oorsprong de functie van verkooppunt voor bloemen en tijdschriften, terwijl er onder een openbaar damestoilet was ingericht. Omschrijving.
De kiosk van een bouwlaag opgetrokken in beton en gele baksteen bestaat in plattegrond uit een kleine en een grote achthoek, die in elkaar zijn geschoven en door een ver uitstekend luifeldak van beton worden overdekt. De kleine achthoek wordt bekroond door een vierkant torentje met afgeschuinde hoeken, bestaande uit baksteen en glazen bouwstenen en gedekt door een betonnen koepeldak. Het betonnen luifeldak diende oorspronkelijk mede als platform voor bloemen en planten. Waardering.

The small octagon is crowned by a square tower with chamfered corners, consisting of brick and glass blocks and covered by a concrete dome roof.
