Omschrijving
Eenlaags hoekpand onder mansardekap, 1844, op oudere kelder, vrijwoning deel uitmakend van het hofje van de Fundatie Metelerkamp. De ongepleisterde lijstgevel is drie traveeën - tussen pilasters met blokverdeling - breed met in het midden de ingang; de oorspronkelijke schuifvensters hebben een roede verdeling.
De linker zijgevel, een lijstgevel, is blind en heeft soortgelijke pilasters als de voorgevel en vormt, met de zijgevel van Nieuwe Kamp 12, de kop van het hofje.
Onder de linker kamer bevindt zich een - niet meer toegankelijke - kelder met tongewelf loodrecht op de rooilijn, behorend bij voorgaande bebouwing.
Op de begane grond bevindt zich rechts en links een kamer, gescheiden door het portaal en de steektrap naar de zolder. De zolder bevat twee vertrekken. De beschoten gordingenkap rust op merkwaardige spanten; van het onderste juk rust ieder spantbeen op het blokkeel dat verbonden is met een extra schoor die vanaf de vloer tot de halve hoogte van het spantbeen loopt; daarboven verbindt het korbeel het spantbeen en de jukbalk. Op het onderste juk staat een V-juk. Het pand maakt deel uit van het hofje van de Fundatie Metelerkamp bestaande uit Nieuwe Kamp 2 t/m 12 (even) aan een slop, en Achterom 2 en 4, ruggelings hiertegenaan. De Fundatie is gesticht op 2 mei 1844 en beheert het enige Utrechtse hofje waarvan de vrijwoningen nog als zodanig functioneren. (Zij het dat de bewoners voor een deel bijdragen in de onderhoudskosten).
De interieurs zijn vrij gaaf bewaard.
Het pand is zowel uit- als inwendig van bouwhistorisch belang, tevens is de vrijwoning als deel van het complex van historisch en stedebouwkundig belang.

Description
Single-storey corner building under mansard roof, 1844, on an older cellar, detached house forming part of the courtyard of the Fundatie Metelerkamp. The unplastered cornice-topped facade is three bays - between pilasters with block division - wide with the entrance in the centre; the original sash windows have glazing bars.
The left side facade, a cornice-topped facade, is blind and has similar pilasters as the front facade and forms, with the side facade of Nieuwe Kamp 12, the head of the courtyard.
Beneath the left room there is a - no longer accessible - cellar with a barrel vault perpendicular to the building line, belonging to the preceding construction.
On the ground floor there are rooms to the right and left, separated by the vestibule and the staircase to the loft. Beneath the staircase is the former bed alcove beneath which a small bed alcove cellar that was accessible via a separate staircase. Behind this lies the privy, enlarged by the use of a quarter-round door. Both rooms have a chimney. The simple beam layer runs perpendicular to the building line.
The loft contains two compartments. The rendered roof truss structure rests on remarkable rafters; from the lower collar tie each rafter rests on the block heel that is connected with an extra brace that runs from the floor to half the height of the rafter; above that the corbel connects the rafter and the collar tie. On the lower collar tie stands a V-tie. The building forms part of the courtyard of the Fundatie Metelerkamp consisting of Nieuwe Kamp 2 to 12 (even numbers) along an alley, and Achterom 2 and 4, backing onto these. The Fundatie was founded on 2 May 1844 and manages the only Utrecht courtyard where the detached houses still function as such. (Although the residents partly contribute to the maintenance costs).
The interiors are relatively well preserved.
