Dit adres bevat twee bouwdelen, te weten het ondiepe pand aan de Jacobijnenstraat en een zeer brede achterbouw die zich ook achter de buurpanden voortzet.
Jacobijnenstraat 16 is een pand van twee bouwlagen met opmerkelijk fors schilddak met de nok loodrecht op de straat. De gevel uit de zeventiende eeuw heeft een eenvoudige brede kroonlijst. De gevel is op de verdieping twee traveeën breed en heeft op de begane grond een vier traveeën brede forse houten pui (vermoedelijk achttiende-eeuws). Voor de deur, rechts van het midden gelegen, bevinden zich twee treden. Boven de pui bevindt zich een gevelsteen met de afbeelding van een vliegende engel die twee wapenschilden draagt. De brede achterbouw uit de zestiende eeuw, met aan de oostzijde een trapgevel, is twee lagen hoog en heeft een grote kap op eiken krommers met rondhouten sporen. De functie van dit opmerkelijke bouwdeel, circa vijf bij zestien meter groot, dat achter de belendingen doorloopt, is nog duister. De relatie met Jacobijnenstraat 16 is wel zeker, onder andere omdat van dat pand het hoge schilddak aangekapt is aan het loodrecht hierop staande zadeldak van de achterbouw. De achterbouw heeft een reeks van ramen op het noorden.
Jacobijnenstraat 16 en zijn achterbouw zijn van belang uit bouwhistorisch en uit historisch oogpunt.

Description
This address contains two building components, namely the shallow building on the Jacobijnenstraat and a very broad rear building that extends also behind the neighbouring properties.
Jacobijnenstraat 16 is a building of two storeys with a remarkably substantial hipped roof with the ridge perpendicular to the street. The seventeenth-century facade has a simple broad cornice. The facade is two bays wide on the upper storey and has on the ground floor a substantial four-bay wide wooden shopfront (presumably eighteenth-century). In front of the door, positioned to the right of centre, are two steps. Above the shopfront is a stone plaque with the image of a flying angel bearing two coats of arms. The broad rear building from the sixteenth century, with a stepped gable on the east side, is two storeys high and has a large roof truss on oak curved timbers with round roof members. The function of this remarkable building component, approximately five by sixteen metres large, which runs behind the neighbouring properties, remains unclear. The relationship with Jacobijnenstraat 16 is however certain, among other things because the high hipped roof of that building is adjoined to the saddle roof of the rear building standing perpendicular to it. The rear building has a series of windows on the north side.
Jacobijnenstraat 16 and its rear building are of importance from a building-historical and from a historical point of view.
