Omschrijving
Belangrijk 15e eeuws huis, in een opzet gebouwd met Kintgenshaven 4/6, bestaande uit twee bouwlagen een zolder en een kelder. Het zadeldak heeft de nok loodrecht op de rooilijn van de Slachtstraat.
De huizen in de Slachtstraat werden oorspronkelijk gebouwd voor ambachtslieden die hun inkomsten ontleenden aan het nabij gelegen Vleeshuis. In 1643 werd de omgeving van de straat gereconstrueerd waardoor deze een beter aanzien verkreeg. Het aanzien van die omgeving wordt dan ook bepaald door 17e eeuwse huizen. Slachtstraat 2 vormt hierop een uitzondering. Het is een vrij zeldzaam voorbeeld van het eenvoudige woonhuis, waarschijnlijk annex bedrijfsruimte. De opbouw is gaaf bewaard, de moer en kinderbalklagen, op de beganegrond met sleutelstukken, zijn nog aanwezig. De spiltrap van de verdieping naar de zolder is 17e eeuws. De gedeeltelijk vernieuwde kap heeft een eiken spant met krommers.
Het huis Kintgenshaven 4/6 is, hoewel in een opzet met Slachtstraat 2 gebouwd, waarschijnlijk altijd zelfstandig geweest. De tussenmuur loopt niet tot buiten het dak door, maar kan oorspronkelijk wel een brandmuur zijn geweest.
De gepleisterde gevels geven een zelfstandig leven duidelijk weer. Vooral de ramen hebben een verschillende ontwikkeling doorgemaakt, wat zichtbaar is in de formaatverschillen. Alle ramen zijn 19e eeuws. De gevel aan de Slachtstraat is een afgeknotte tuitgevel met natuurstenen deklatten.
Slachtstraat 2 heeft een rondom doorlopende puilijst boven de ramen op de beganegrond.
Het huis is samen met Kintgenshaven 4/6 zowel bouwhistorisch als historisch van belang als vrij zeldzaam voorbeeld van het eenvoudige 15e eeuwse huis.

Description
Important 15th century house, built as one unit with Kintgenshaven 4/6, consisting of two storeys, an attic and a cellar. The gabled roof has its ridge perpendicular to the building line of the Slachtstraat.
The houses in the Slachtstraat were originally built for tradespeople who derived their income from the nearby Vleeshuis. In 1643 the area around the street was reconstructed, giving it a better appearance. The appearance of that area is therefore determined by 17th century houses. Slachtstraat 2 is an exception to this. It is a fairly rare example of a simple dwelling house, probably also used as a workshop. The structure is well preserved, the moer and kinderbalklagen (timber support beams), on the ground floor with keystone pieces, are still present. The spiral staircase from the first floor to the attic is 17th century. The partly renewed roof truss structure has an oak truss with curved timbers.
The house Kintgenshaven 4/6, although built as one unit with Slachtstraat 2, was probably always independent. The dividing wall does not run through the outside of the roof, but could originally have been a firewall.
The plastered facades clearly show independent development. In particular the windows have undergone different development, which is visible in the size differences. All windows are 19th century. The facade facing the Slachtstraat is a truncated spout gable with natural stone coping.
Slachtstraat 2 has a continuous drip moulding above the windows on the ground floor.
The house is, together with Kintgenshaven 4/6, of importance both in terms of building history and historical significance as a fairly rare example of a simple 15th century house.
