In aanleg een diep middeleeuws huis, tegenwoordig bestaande uit een voorhuis en een achterhuis. Het voorhuis heeft drie lagen en een kap. Het achterhuis heeft twee bouwlagen en een kap.
De Lijnmarkt kan gezien worden als voortzetting van de Oudegracht. Oorspronkelijk stonden er ook huizen met kelders onder de straat. Lijnmarkt 47 lijkt van oorsprong een vrij groot grachtenhuis te zijn, hoewel het doorlopen van kelders niet aan te tonen is. De kelders en de zijgevels behoren nog tot het middeleeuws huis. Aan het eind van de 17e eeuw of het begin van de 18e eeuw is het huis ingrijpend verbouwd tot het huidige. Hiertoe behoren de lijstgevel aan de voorzijde en de achtergevel. Description
In origin a deep medieval house, today consisting of a front house and a rear house. The front house has three storeys and a roof. The rear house has two storeys and a roof.
The Lijnmarkt can be seen as a continuation of the Oudegracht. Originally there were also houses with cellars beneath the street. Lijnmarkt 47 appears to have originally been a fairly large canal house, although the continuity of cellars cannot be demonstrated. The cellars and the side facades still belong to the medieval house. At the end of the 17th century or the beginning of the 18th century the house was extensively rebuilt to its present form. This includes the cornice-topped facade at the front and the rear facade. In the 18th century a rear house was built at some distance from the front house. The remaining courtyard was filled in during the 20th century.
The front and rear houses are important as a medieval house on account of their place in the development of the Lijnmarkt and architecturally-historically on account of large parts of the complex.
