Omschrijving
Voormalige RABBINAATSWONING, gebouwd in Moorse trant omstreeks de eeuwwisseling en deel uitmakende van het U-vormige voormalige synagogecomplex. Dit bestaat uit de ruimschoots teruggerooide reeds beschermde synagoge uit 1854 (thans in gebruik als gereformeerde kerk) en de voormalige kosterswoning annex school en slachthuis. Dit laatste gebouw, dat eveneens van omstreeks de eeuwwisseling moet dateren, is echter zo sterk verbouwd dat het niet van rijkswege is beschermd.
Relatief diep gebouw op rechthoekige plattegrond en overwegend opgetrokken uit rode strengperssteen. Het oorspronkelijk met pannen belegde schilddak en de balklagen van de verdieping ontbreken ten gevolge van een brand. De eenvoudig geprofileerde kroonlijst rust op een uitgemetseld boogfriesje. De enigszins asymmetrische voorgevel is uitgevoerd in Moorse trant en heeft hoefijzervormige vensters met in de bovenlichten gekleurd glas-in- lood; voor lateien, consoles en sluitstenen e.d. is gebruik gemaakt van (geschilderde) natuursteen. De ingangspartij met rondboogbovenlicht wordt ter hoogte van de verdieping benadrukt door een uitkragend klein balkon met gietijzeren hekje. Andere opvallende elementen zijn onder andere de consoles in de vorm van geglazuurde mannenkopjes met bolhoed (vermoedelijk joden) en het siersmeedwerk.
De detaillering van de achter- en zijgevels bestaat uit lichtgetoogde vensters van verschillend formaat en met eenvoudige roedenindeling.

Description
Former RABBI'S RESIDENCE, built in Moorish style around the turn of the century and forming part of the U-shaped former synagogue complex. This consists of the generously set-back already protected synagogue from 1854 (currently in use as a Reformed church) and the former sexton's residence adjoining school and slaughterhouse. The latter building, which must also date from around the turn of the century, has however been so extensively altered that it is not protected by the state.
A relatively deep building on a rectangular floor plan and predominantly constructed of red pressed brick. The originally tile-covered hipped roof and the floor beams of the storey are missing as a result of a fire. The simply profiled cornice rests on an embossed arch frieze. The somewhat asymmetrical front facade is executed in Moorish style and features horseshoe-shaped windows with coloured leaded glass in the fanlights; for lintels, consoles and keystones etc. use has been made of (painted) natural stone. The entrance section with a round arch fanlight is emphasized at the level of the storey by a projecting small balcony with cast iron railing. Other striking elements include among others consoles in the form of glazed male heads with bowler hat (presumably Jews) and the decorative ironwork.
The detailing of the rear and side facades consists of slightly arched windows of various sizes and with simple glazing bars.
