Description

Porter's lodge executed in sober 'mediaeval' style in 1911, integrated with a boundary wall and round corner towers, belonging to the castle-museum Sypesteyn. The single-storey house is built in brick, with partial reuse of cloister bricks, on a rectangular ground plan under transverse, covered with blue tiles saddle roof between spout gables and flat-topped, low annexes on the northeast side. The top of the short entrance gable on the southwest side is provided with steps, curved wing pieces and interlacing, as well as two oeil-de-boeufs with sculptured sandstone frames and a top pilaster with elegantly wrought wall anchor and cross arm; on either side of the entrance two narrow windows with elegantly wrought grilles. In the long facade on the street side a cross window with yellow/red shutters. In the long facade on the garden side a single and a double window with small glazing bars and yellow/red shutters; in the recessed annex a garden door.
