Omschrijving
Grote of St. Michaelskerk.
Driebeukige hallenkerk met stenen overwelving, ter plaatse van een oudere kerk, begonnen 2e helft 14e eeuw en eerst na het midden van de 15e eeuw voltooid.
Toren begonnen in 1406, enkele malen verbrand en in 1682 ingestort.
Ter plaatse thans verhoogde achtzijdige consistoriekamer. 1882-1896 grote restauratie.
Aan de noordzijde portaal uit begin 16e eeuw van baksteen en Bentheimersteen.
Inwendig: Koorhek, 1597, in Vredeman de Vries-trant, door Sweer Kistemaker; preekstoel, 1617-'22 Adam Straes uit Weilburg; orgel 1719-'21 door J.C. en F.C. Schnitger kas van Jurriaan Westerman; consistoriekamer met interieur van 1688 en schilderij van de Zwolse predikanten 1691 door Hendrik ten Oever; verguld houten kaarsenkroon XVIId.
Fragmenten van muurschilderingen en gewelfschilderingen uit de 15e eeuw. Orgel met Hoofdwerk, Bovenwerk, Borstwerk, Rugwerk en Pedaal, 1721 gemaakt door J.C. en F.C. Schnitger. De orgelkas is van Jurriaan Westerman.

Description
Great or St. Michael's Church.
Three-aisled hall church with stone vault, on the site of an older church, begun in the second half of the 14th century and only completed after the middle of the 15th century.
Tower begun in 1406, burnt several times and collapsed in 1682.
At present a raised octagonal vestry chamber. 1882-1896 major restoration.
On the north side portal from the beginning of the 16th century of brick and Bentheim stone.
Internally: Choir screen, 1597, in the manner of Vredeman de Vries, by Sweer Kistemaker; pulpit, 1617-'22 Adam Straes from Weilburg; organ 1719-'21 by J.C. and F.C. Schnitger case by Jurriaan Westerman; vestry with interior from 1688 and painting of the Zwolle preachers 1691 by Hendrik ten Oever; gilded wooden chandelier, second half of the 17th century.
Fragments of wall paintings and vault paintings from the 15th century. Organ with Great, Upper work, Breastwork, Back work and Pedal, 1721 made by J.C. and F.C. Schnitger. The organ case is by Jurriaan Westerman.
