Omschrijving
Complex van grote stedebouwkundige waarde, dat met de er achter gelegen Drogenapstoren en de "Kortegaard" de Markt aan de zuidzijde op fraaie wijze afsluit. Het oudste deel is een, blijkens een jaartalsteentje uit 1549 daterend, gotisch huis langs de steeg naar de Drogenapstoren. Grotendeels in baksteen uitgevoerde trapgevel met pinakels, accoladeboog-vormige bekroning en natuurstenen kruisvensters binnen nissen met geprofileerde korfbogen. Natuurstenen banden en waterlijsten. Tegen de westelijke gevel van dit pand is XVII A een dwarshuis onder hoog schilddak aangebouwd, dat in 1775 gemoderniseerd werd en tot trappenhuis voor het 16e eeuwse gedeelte ingericht. Beide panden kregen toen schuiframen in 18e eeuwse trant en het nieuwe deel werd van een deur in Lod. XIV-omlijsting voorzien. Tegen het schilddak hier een dakkapel met fronton en vleugelstukken. Restauratie vond plaats van 1939-'40 door de architect A.A.Kok, die het 16e eeuwse deel zijn oorspronkelijke kruisvensters teruggaf en in het latere gedeelte de 18e eeuwse roedenindeling herstelde. Aan de achterzijde wordt het oudste deel afgesloten door een hoge puntgevel met vlechtingen en tweelichtvensters. Bij de restauratie bleven de 18e eeuwse vensters in de tuingevels gehandhaafd. Naast de trapgevel een bakstenen poortje (XVII) met natuurstenen imposten en sluitsteen, dat toegang geeft tot de steeg. Inwendig in het 16e eeuwse deel tongewelfde kelders, moerbalken op gotische en renaissance-consoles en in het 17e eeuwse deel eenvoudige details uit de verbouwing van 1775. Description
Complex of great urban planning value, which together with the Drogenapstoren situated behind it and the "Kortegaard" closes off the Markt on its south side in a fine manner. The oldest part is a Gothic house, as evidenced by a datestone from 1549, along the alley leading to the Drogenapstoren. Largely brick-built stepped gable with pinnacles, accolade-arch-shaped crowning and natural stone cross windows within niches with moulded corbel arches. Natural stone bands and drip mouldings. Against the western facade of this building a cross-wing with high hipped roof was added in the first half of the 17th century, which was modernised in 1775 and arranged as a staircase for the 16th-century section. Both buildings then received sash windows in 18th-century style and the new part was provided with a door in Lod. XIV framing. Against the hipped roof here a roof dormer with pediment and wing pieces. Restoration took place in 1939-'40 by the architect A.A.Kok, who returned the 16th-century section its original cross windows and in the later section restored the 18th-century glazing bar division. On the rear side the oldest part is closed off by a high pointed gable with interlacing and two-light windows. During restoration the 18th-century windows in the garden facades were retained. Next to the stepped gable a brick gateway (17th century) with natural stone impost stones and keystone, which provides access to the alley. Internally in the 16th-century section barrel-vaulted cellars, wall plates on Gothic and Renaissance consoles and in the 17th-century section simple details from the conversion of 1775. The garden behind the complex is bounded by the town wall, which connects at the Drogenapstoren.
