The register's description

MAIN BUILDING, House ZEEDUIN, a building now painted white, on a rectangular floor plan and consisting of a ground floor, first storey and attic storey; the whole is provided with a hipped roof running all around. According to a date stone above the grey, natural stone plinth in the west facade, the house dates from the year 1878. This stone is built in to the right of the front door and has the inscription: "MR. H.F. LANTSHEER 1878". The west-facing front facade has five bays and is accentuated in the middle of the ground floor by an entrance feature, which is continued by a balcony on the first storey, above which is a roof dormer. The entrance feature, which projects somewhat forward, is flanked by two pillars that support the balcony on the first storey. This balcony is provided with open and curved wrought-iron decorative motifs. The two pillars continue on the first storey in the form of two wall pilasters. Above the door, on the first storey, the balcony is accessible via a double glazed door with moulding; above the balcony door a segmental fanlight is fitted. The double front door on the ground floor also has a segmental fanlight and is flanked by narrow tall windows and simple pilasters. On both sides of the entrance, on both storeys, two large, segmental 6-pane windows are fitted. Above these windows are simple keystones with diamond head. The front facade is further articulated by a string course and is closed off at the corners with pilasters: on the ground floor these are rusticated and on the first storey smooth. A simple frieze closes off the front facade; the frieze projects slightly forward at the level of the entrance. The roof dormer is set within an arched frame with pilasters either side. The transition between this roof dormer and the frieze is given a gradual progression through hanging and fretted volutes. A ball with five points stands on the spout of the arched frame and forms the highest, decorative element of the roof dormer. The north facade is three bays wide and has two storeys which are separated by a moulding. The middle section, provided with pilasters, projects forward and is closed off by a spout gable with moulding. On the ground floor a double glazed door is placed, provided with a segmental fanlight, with a low stoop and iron railings. The door has moulding and a narrow window either side. On the first storey of the middle section, two 6-pane windows with mouldings are fitted one above the other; the lower is segmental and has a small, undivided and narrow window to the left and right; the upper has a lintel in the form of a herringbone arch and two opening window halves; above this a diamond head is worked into the wall. To the left and right of the middle risalit, on each storey, a segmental 6-pane window is fitted which is provided with a keystone. The corner pilasters of the middle section and of the facade sections adjacent to it are rusticated on the ground floor and smooth on the first storey. The masonry is painted white. On the left side of the middle risalit hangs a small bell at the level of the first storey which can be operated with a chain. The facade on the east side is in its main layout the same as the west facade, that is to say consisting of two storeys with window bays, each bay is provided with a segmental 6-pane window, which is flanked by louvred shutters; the whole is articulated by an accentuated middle bay, which consists of a central accent formed by a triangular projection which at the level of the attic storey is covered with a tent roof. The projection also forms the fifth and middle bay. This projection is on all sides and on both storeys provided with segmental 6-pane windows, while the windows in the central wall plane are provided with louvred shutters. All window bays of the east facade are indicated by means of simple pilasters. These pilasters, the frieze and the string course are painted grey; the remainder of the facade is white. In contrast to the north and west facades, the windows on this side are provided with louvred shutters. The south facade consists of two broad bays and a middle risalit which is closed off by a roof dormer like that on the north facade; the decorative element in the form of a ball with points is missing here. On the ground floor, a veranda placed in the middle gives the facade its main accent, whereby the gently curved and plant-covered roof construction of the veranda forms the balcony of the storey above. The balcony has a low balustrade which is filled with fretted wrought-iron decoration in curling decorative motifs. At the sides the veranda is closed by broad and tall segmental 6-pane windows with glazing bars. In the spandrels at these sides a simple foliage motif is carved. The arched construction of the balcony rests at the front on small pillars which are executed with leafwork capitals. At the (short) sides, in the corner with the masonry of the facade, ditto capitals are fitted on small pilasters. To the left and right the south facade is provided on both storeys with segmental windows with louvred shutters, while the balcony on the first storey is accessible from inside via a segmental, double glazed door with fanlight. This door is set within moulding, in which a decorative motif is worked. The middle risalit has smooth pilasters; the facade has rusticated corner pilasters on the ground floor and smooth ones on the first storey. The interior of the main building still possesses the original spatial layout. Remarkable is that (long) corridors are absent in this building, which gives the spatial arrangement a particular degree of cohesion. Around the centrally located hall, on the ground floor the individual living rooms and the kitchen are grouped. From this hall a staircase in three flights leads to the first storey. The access to the staircase is marked by a broad arched frame with pilasters which are provided with composite capitals. The inner side of this arch is decorated with small, square coffering in which is floral ornament. Around the void, also on the first storey, the individual rooms are arranged, including a study/library and various other spaces, all with a residential function. Through the windows the viewer is afforded varied and richly varied vistas along the sight lines of the surrounding park, whereby the coherence between arte-fact and natura-fact takes form.
