Oostelijk segment van de vesting Woudrichem met bijbehorend inundatiekanaal, deel uitmakend van achtereenvolgens de Oude Hollandse Waterlinie en Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie, bestaande uit een aanleg van aardwerken, grachten, sluizen en bijbehorende bebouwing en objecten zoals hierna genoemd.
De aanleg bestaat uit verschillende zogenoemde fronten: de oostelijk helft van het noordelijke rivierfront, de gehele oost- en zuidfronten en een klein deel van het westfront. Hierbinnen bevinden zich: het dubbelbastion op de noordoosthoek, de bastions op de zuidoost- en zuidwesthoek en de aangrenzende aarden wallen, zogenoemde courtines, met aan de oost en zuid zijdes een voorliggende natte gracht, twee ravelijnen en het glacis met militaire wegen.
Op het oostelijk ravelijn bevindt zich een onvoltooide groepsschuilplaats, type P. Hiervan zijn alleen de fundamenten en een deel van de opstand gerealiseerd.
Tussen het Zuidoostelijk bastion en de Hoge Maasdijk bevindt zich een gemetselde stenen beer, bekend als de Oostbeer.
Ten zuiden van de vesting bevindt zich het inundatiekanaal met bijbehorende werken. De aanleg bestaat uit een kanaal, waaiersluis, kwelkom, damsluis en ontvangkom, de bruggen nabij de Postweg, de resten van de aarden batterij in de Postweide en de sluiswachterswoning.
Aan de oostzijde staat het kanaal in verbinding met de Afgedamde Maas. Om de waterinlaat ter inundatie van de polders ten zuiden van Woudrichem te reguleren, bevinden zich in dit kanaal achtereenvolgens een waaiersluis, kwelkom en damsluis. De waaiersluis scheidt het oostelijk segment van het inundatiekanaal van de kwelkom. De damsluis scheidt de kwelkom van de westelijke loop van het inundatiekanaal. Het kanaal splitst zich, nabij de Postwegbrug, in twee afzonderlijke waterlichamen. Deze aanzetten, direct ten westen van de brug, en de oostelijke ontvangkom vormen onderdeel van het monument, evenals de beide brugdelen.
Direct ten oosten van deze brug bevindt zich de ovaalvormige aanleg met natte gracht die resteert van de batterij in de Postweide. Buiten de gracht staan enkele grenspalen van de vroegere militaire landsgrond.
Tussen de waaiersluis en de Oostbeer van vesting Woudrichem bevindt zich de voormalige sluiswachterswoning. Dit is een eenlaags bouwwerk met zadeldak op een rechthoekige plattegrond, opgemetseld uit gepleisterde baksteen.

Description
Eastern segment of the fortification Woudrichem with associated inundation canal, forming part successively of the Old Dutch Water Line and New Dutch Water Line, consisting of an arrangement of earthworks, ditches, sluices and associated buildings and objects as named below.
The arrangement consists of various so-called fronts: the eastern half of the northern river front, the entire east and south fronts and a small part of the west front. Within these are situated: the double bastion on the northeast corner, the bastions on the southeast and southwest corner and the adjacent earth ramparts, so-called curtains, with on the east and south sides a foreground wet moat, two ravelins and the glacis with military roads.
On the eastern ravelin is situated an incomplete group shelter, type P. Of this only the foundations and part of the superstructure have been realized.
Between the Southeastern bastion and the Hoge Maasdijk is situated a brick masonry beaver, known as the East beaver.
South of the fortification is the inundation canal with associated works. The arrangement consists of a canal, fan sluice, seepage chamber, dam sluice and receiving chamber, the bridges near the Postweg, the remains of the earth battery in the Postweide and the lock-keeper's dwelling.
On the east side the canal connects with the Afgedamde Maas. In order to regulate the water inlet for inundation of the polders south of Woudrichem, in this canal are successively a fan sluice, seepage chamber and dam sluice. The fan sluice separates the eastern segment of the inundation canal from the seepage chamber. The dam sluice separates the seepage chamber from the western course of the inundation canal. The canal splits, near the Postweg bridge, into two separate water bodies. These extensions, directly west of the bridge, and the eastern receiving chamber form part of the monument, as do both bridge sections.
Directly east of this bridge is the oval arrangement with wet moat that remains from the battery in the Postweide. Outside the moat stand several boundary markers of the former military state land.
Between the fan sluice and the East beaver of fortification Woudrichem is the former lock-keeper's dwelling. This is a single-storey building with gabled roof on a rectangular plan, built of plastered brick.
