Omschrijving
Kasteel van Woerden. Slot, gebouwd tussen 1404 en 1417, op vierkante plattegrond, bestaande uit vier vleugels rond een binnenplaats. Op de hoeken ronde torens, waarvan drie sterk verlaagd zijn, terwijl de vierde door een vierkante gevangenis is vervangen. De betrekkelijk goed geconserveerde voorvleugel wordt gedekt door een zadeldak met puntgevels aan de uiteinden. Het vooruitspringende middendeel, waarin de poort, is hoger opgehaald en heeft een afzonderlijk zadeldak. Het bovenste deel van de gehele voorgevel is uitgekraagd op een bakstenen boogfries. De overige drie vleugels zijn sterk gewijzigd door verbouwingen en uitbreidingen. Inwendig tongewelven over de benedenverdieping.

Description
Castle of Woerden. Fortress, built between 1404 and 1417, on square ground plan, consisting of four wings around an inner courtyard. At the corners round towers, three of which are greatly lowered, while the fourth has been replaced by a square prison. The relatively well-preserved front wing is covered by a gabled roof with pointed gables at the ends. The projecting central section, in which the gateway is located, is raised higher and has a separate gabled roof. The upper part of the entire front facade is corbelled on a brick arch frieze. The other three wings have been greatly altered by renovations and extensions. Internally barrel vaults over the lower storey.
