Omschrijving
Segment van verdedigingswerk vesting Gorinchem, deel uitmakend van de Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie. Het werk bestaat uit een aanleg van aardwerken, natte gracht en bijbehorende bebouwing en objecten zoals hierna genoemd.
De aanleg is een onderdeel van de westelijke verdedigingswal van Gorinchem en omvat een bastion (bastion III), natte gracht (thans gedeelte van vluchthaven) gelegen voor de linkerface van het bastion.
In de rechterface van het bastion bevindt zich een gemetselde, grondgedekte, caponnière met droge gracht en ophaalbrug.

Description
Segment of defensive work of fortification Gorinchem, part of the New Holland Water Line. The work consists of an installation of earthworks, wet moat and associated buildings and objects as named hereafter.
The installation is part of the western defensive wall of Gorinchem and comprises a bastion (bastion III), wet moat (now part of refuge harbour) located before the left face of the bastion.
In the right face of the bastion is located a masoned, earth-covered, caponnière with dry moat and drawbridge.
