PISCINA met wandschildering. Uit de eerste helft der 14e eeuw daterende piscina met wandschildering, zich bevindend in een nis in de rechterwand van de z.g. Marnixzaal van de Ned.Herv.MAVO, overblijfsel uit claustraalhuis op dezelfde plaats, genaamd "de Rode Poort". De piscina bevat een natuurstenen tweelicht met driepassen waarboven uit een stuk gehouwen traceerwerk; beneden twee bekkens en in de rechterzijde van de nis nog een natuurstenen tablet. De wandschildering geeft de voorstelling weer van de handwassing tijdens de mis waarbij de rechterfiguur een acolyth gekleed in een rood onder - en geelbovenkleed en een opgerolde doek in de linkerhand - water uitgiet uit een kan over de handen van de linkerfiguur, een priester welke is gekleed in een lichtgekleurd; met rood afgezet onderkleed en een blauw bovenkleed; op de achtergrond links een met een doek overdekt altaar waarop een opengeslagen boek, een hostiekelk en een kandelaar zijn afgebeeld.

Description
PISCINA with wall painting. Piscina dating from the first half of the 14th century with wall painting, located in a niche in the right wall of the so-called Marnixzaal of the Dutch Reformed MAVO, remnant from a cloister house on the same site, called "de Rode Poort". The piscina contains a natural stone two-light with trefoils above which carved tracery work from one piece; below two basins and on the right side of the niche still a natural stone tablet. The wall painting depicts the hand-washing during mass whereby the right figure an acolyte dressed in a red under- and yellow upper garment and a rolled-up cloth in the left hand - pours water from a jug over the hands of the left figure, a priest who is dressed in a light-coloured; with red-trimmed under garment and a blue upper garment; in the background on the left a cloth-covered altar on which an open book, a pyx and a candlestick are depicted.
