Omschrijving
Raadhuis, bestaande uit drie aan de Markt gelegen, aan elkaar gekoppelde panden. Het oorspronkelijke raadhuis kwam in oorsprong waarschijnlijk tot stand in 1586-1587 en betrof het middelste gebouw. Het werd in 1628 voorzien van een nieuwe, getrapte middentopgevel. In de 18e eeuw werd het raadhuis verbouwd en de topgevel verwijderd. Bij een ingrijpende restauratie c.q. reconstructie in 1962-1964 is de getrapte topgevel teruggebracht. De gevel is versierd met gebeeldhouwde wapenstenen en maskers. Toen in 1971 het raadhuis het bestuurscentrum werd van Tholen, zijn de buurpanden bij het oude raadhuis getrokken. Het betreft links het in oorsprong laatgotische woonhuis (ca 1560) met waterlijst en schuifvensters, dat in 1962-1964 ingrijpend is gerestaureerd en een symmetrische gevelindeling kreeg. Rechts bevindt zich het woonhuis dat tussen 1875 en 1955 als bewaarschool in gebruik was. Dit huis heeft op de begane grond een voordeur met rijk gesneden bovenlicht en een kroonlijst op gesneden consoles. Het bovenlicht is bij de restauratie in 1962-1964 aangebracht. Naast de voordeur drie Empirevenster met gesneden middenstijl. Op de verdieping bevinden zich drie 9-ruits schuifvensters. De gootlijst is voorzien van rijk gesneden consoles.

Description
Townhall, consisting of three properties situated at the Markt, coupled to each other. The original townhall originally came into being in 1586-1587 and concerned the middle building. In 1628 it was provided with a new, stepped central top gable. In the 18th century the townhall was rebuilt and the top gable removed. Upon an extensive restoration and/or reconstruction in 1962-1964 the stepped top gable was restored. The facade is decorated with sculptured coat-of-arms stones and masks. When in 1971 the townhall became the administrative centre of Tholen, the neighbouring properties were pulled to the old townhall. It concerns on the left the originally Late Gothic dwelling house (circa 1560) with drip moulding and sash windows, which was extensively restored in 1962-1964 and received a symmetrical facade layout. On the right is situated the dwelling house which was used as a school for young children between 1875 and 1955. This house has on the ground floor a front door with richly carved fanlight and a cornice on carved consoles. The fanlight was added at the restoration in 1962-1964. Next to the front door three Empire windows with carved middle-stile. On the first floor there are three 9-pane sash windows. The eaves-line is provided with richly carved consoles.
