Omschrijving
Herv. Kerk en toren op ommuurd kerkhof. Eenbeukig kruisvormig kerkgebouw met zware westtoren beide uit de 13e eeuw; de koorsluiting is in de 15e eeuw vernieuwd; in de hoek tussen koor en noorderarm een sacristie met verdieping. Aan de oostzijde van de dwarsarmen zijn de grondvesten van absiden bij de restauratie opgehaald. Op de gewelven van het inwendige decoratieve beschilderingen met enkele figuren ertussen. In de kerk mooi gesneden preekstoel met klankbord, 1671. Overhuifde herenbank Clant, 1669. In het schip banken met gesneden lijsten en achterschot met opengewerkte bekroning. In de noorderarm banken met Ionische pilasters. Groot orgel uit 1680 en 1788 op balustrade met gesneden middenpaneel. Marmeren graftombe voor Adr. Clant door Rombout Verhulst 1672. Tien rouwborden en twee gesneden wapens Clant. Portret van J. Clant. Zerk voor J. Clant met koperen plaat. Zandstenen zerk Nittersum; groot aantal zerken 16e-18e eeuw. Grafplaten Clant. Description
Reformed Church and tower on walled churchyard. Single-aisle cruciform church building with heavy west tower both from the 13th century; the choir closure was renewed in the 15th century; in the corner between choir and north arm a sacristy with upper storey. On the east side of the transepts the foundations of apses were exposed during restoration. On the vaults of the interior decorative paintings with some figures between them. In the church a finely carved pulpit with tester, 1671. Canopied gentlemen's pew Clant, 1669. In the nave pews with carved mouldings and back-panel with pierced cresting. In the north arm pews with Ionic pilasters. Large organ from 1680 and 1788 on balustrade with carved centre panel. Marble memorial tomb for Adr. Clant by Rombout Verhulst 1672. Ten hatchments and two carved coats of arms Clant. Portrait of J. Clant. Grave slab for J. Clant with brass plate. Sandstone grave slab Nittersum; large number of grave slabs 16th-18th century.
