Vesting Geertruidenberg.
Algemeen.
De overblijfselen van de in 1833-37 aangelegde VERSTERKINGEN zijn in de jaren 1952/53 geheel gerestaureerd.
De Wallen, buitenwerken en grachten aan de noord- en westzijde van de stad, met o.a. aan de noordzijde een mooi gaaf bastion met kruithuis van 1836 en aan de westzijde het bolwerk (met binnenbastion) en een deel van de voor dit bolwerk gelegen enveloppe, zijn van belang wegens de krijgshistorische waarde.
Beschrijving.

A) binnengrachtse oever.
gescheiden van de achterzijde bebouwing Haven door een wandelpad, glooiend met bomen beplant talud.
Hoog bastion met steil talud, beplant met gras en bomen. Aan de binnenzijde van de bastionwal het uit 1836 daterende Kruithuis. De kerkhofoever bestaat eveneens uit met bomen beplant glooiend talud. Tot aan de dam smal glooien, van van bomen voorzien talud gescheiden door de achterzijde van de huizen aan de Elisabeth- en Molenstraat door een pad. Ten westen van de dam langs de Burgemeester Meyerstraat breed met heesters en bomen beplant glooiend talud. Langs de stadsweg en het schiereiland glooiend talud met bomen. De westzijde van dit grachtgedeelte wordt afgesloten door een vlakke met gras begroeide oever.

De westelijke oever is vlak, singelachtig karakter, gedeeltelijk met wilgen en hoge bomen beplant. De zuidelijke oever loopt tot aan de Commandeurstraat langs de Provinciale weg, is hiervan gescheiden door een smal zwak glooiend talud. De oostelijke oever van de vestinggracht wordt begrensd door de tuinen van de percelen Commandeurstraat 2, 4, 6-8 en heeft tot aan de flank van het bolwerk een zachtglooiend talud. Het bolwerk met kat rijst steil omhoog en is met gras en bomen beplant. Aan de achterzijde wordt het bolwerk begrensd door een wandelpad, dat een voortzetting is van de Commandeurstraat. De oever ten noorden van het bolwerk heeft zacht glooiend talud.
Enveloppe.
De voor het bolwerk gelegen enveloppe met escarp en hoofdwal is beplant met wilgen en bomen.

General.
The remains of the FORTIFICATIONS laid out in 1833-37 were completely restored in the years 1952/53.
The Walls, outworks and moats on the north and west sides of the city, with among others on the north side a fine intact bastion with powder magazine of 1836 and on the west side the bulwark (with inner bastion) and part of the envelope located in front of this bulwark, are of importance due to their military-historical value.
Description.
Northern walls.
A) Inner moat bank.
Separated from the rear buildings of the Haven by a footpath, sloping talus planted with trees.
High bastion with steep talus, planted with grass and trees. On the inner side of the bastion wall the Powder Magazine dating from 1836. The cemetery bank also consists of a sloping talus planted with trees. Up to the dam narrow sloping talus provided with trees, separated by the rear of the houses on the Elisabeth and Molenstraat by a path. To the west of the dam along the Burgemeester Meyerstraat broad sloping talus planted with shrubs and trees. Along the city road and the peninsula sloping talus with trees. Envelope.
The envelope located in front of the bulwark with escarp and main wall is planted with willows and trees.
