Omschrijving
Heringastate of Popta-slot, bestaande uit een hoofdgebouw, een vleugel tegen de zuidzijde daarvan en een serre daarachter, een poortgebouw en een tuinaanleg.
Het hoofdgebouw is een in aanleg 16e-eeuwse stins, in de 17e eeuw gewijzigd en in 1906-'08 gerestaureerd. Inwendig onder andere twee 16e-eeuwse bedsteden, een 17e-eeuwse, twee gebeeldhouwde binnenpoortjes, schouw, kast en geldtafel in de voogdenkamer; 17e-eeuwse ingangspoort met steen uit 1687 uit Kornjum afkomstig.
De vleugel aan de zuidzijde dateert uit de 18de eeuw, op de schouw een schilderstuk 1782.
De serre achter de zijvleugel dateert uit de periode van de restauratie 1906-’08.
Het poortgebouw uit 1631 met door trappen gevormde gevel geleed door gekoppelde pilasters; terzijde van de ingangsboog natuurstenen pilasters met een soort leeuwenhermen; in het fries tussen de eerste en tweede verdieping kwartierwapens Heringa-Eysinga. Midden boven de ingang een groot omlijst wapenschild waarin later het wapen Popta is aangebracht.
De tuinaanleg bestaande uit:
- het huiseiland omzoomd door een gracht met kademuren, houten beschoeiingen paal met schot, kering van gestapelde dakpannen, trappen en stalten (was/spoelplaats) aan het water. Voorts een voor- en zijterrein met siertuin met o.a. tuinmuren, grondkeringen met terras en zandsteen trappartijen, paden, gazons, perken, tuinbeeld (leeuw) en een kweektuin waarin koude bakken van beton, een pottenhok en een tuinmuur met deur;
- Een smeedijzeren hekwerk langs de Hegedyk;
- de overtuin (noordelijk van het huiseiland) met boomgaard en sierbloemen tuin met fruitschuur, tuinmuren met deuren en ezelsruggen, houten schuttingen, koude bakken van beton, smeedijzeren hekken op gemetselde fundering, t.p.v. de palen hardstenen blokken en geschoord in de tuin (langs Slotleane);
- de Slotleane (ten zuiden en westen van het huiseiland/overtuin) met ten westen van de laan de moestuin en zuidelijk van de laan de bessentuin. Met een smeedijzeren hekwerk op gemetselde fundering, t.p.v. de palen hardstenen blokken en geschoord in de tuin aan beide zijden van het poortgebouw, een kademuur in de singelsloot welke parallel aan de gracht loopt vanaf de zuidzijde van de poort tot aan de Hegedyk, een kering van gestapelde dakpannen.

Description
Heringastate or Popta-slot, consisting of a main building, a wing against the south side thereof and a conservatory behind it, a gatehouse and a garden layout.
The main building is a fortified manor of 16th-century design, modified in the 17th century and restored in 1906-'08. Internally among other things two 16th-century box beds, one 17th-century, two carved interior gateways, fireplace, cupboard and counting table in the guardian's room; 17th-century entrance gate with stone from 1687 from Kornjum.
The wing on the south side dates from the 18th century, on the fireplace a painting dated 1782.
The conservatory behind the side wing dates from the period of restoration 1906-'08.
The gatehouse from 1631 with facade formed by stairs articulated by coupled pilasters; beside the entrance arch natural stone pilasters with a kind of lion terms; in the frieze between the first and second storeys quarter-coats of arms Heringa-Eysinga. In the centre above the entrance a large framed coat of arms shield in which the Popta coat of arms was later placed.
The garden layout consisting of:
- the house island bordered by a canal with embankment walls, wooden revetments post with shutter, edging of stacked roof tiles, stairs and washrooms (wash/rinsing place) at the water. Furthermore a front and side terrain with ornamental garden with among other things garden walls, ground retainings with terrace and sandstone stairways, paths, lawns, flowerbeds, garden sculpture (lion) and a kitchen garden in which cold frames of concrete, a potting shed and a garden wall with door;
- A wrought-iron railing along the Hegedyk;
- the upper garden (north of the house island) with orchard and ornamental flower garden with fruit shed, garden walls with doors and curved roofs, wooden fencing, cold frames of concrete, wrought-iron gates on masonry foundations, at the posts hardstone blocks and braced in the garden (along Slotleane);
- the Slotleane (south and west of the house island/upper garden) with to the west of the lane the kitchen garden and south of the lane the berry garden. With a wrought-iron railing on masonry foundation, at the posts hardstone blocks and braced in the garden on both sides of the gatehouse, an embankment wall in the moat ditch which runs parallel to the canal from the south side of the gate to the Hegedyk, an edging of stacked roof tiles.
