Ned. Isr. Grote of Hoofdsynagoge. Rechthoekig gebouw (1670-'71) (door Daniel Stalpaert) onder schilddak, de muren door lisenen geleed, frontons op voor- en achtergevel. Tegen de voorgevel een lage voorbouw met zandstenen ingangspartij. Stoephek (achttiende eeuw) voor de zijgevel. Inwendig: driebeukig onder houten tongewelven op architraven ondersteund door toscaanse zuilen.

Description
Dutch Israelite Great or Principal Synagogue. Rectangular building (1670-'71) (by Daniel Stalpaert) under hipped roof, the walls articulated by pilasters, pediments on front and rear gables. Against the front gable a low entrance structure with sandstone entrance section. Bollard fence (eighteenth century) in front of the side gable. Interior: three-aisled under wooden barrel vaults supported on architraves by Tuscan columns.
