In schoon metselwerk opgetrokken blok van twee woningen met verdiep onder met rode en blauwe muldenpannen (bij nr. 10 gewijzigd) gedekt mansardedak, waarvan de dakvoet t.b.v. de zoldervensters aan de voor- en achterzijde in het midden is opgenomen, met geprofileerde houten gootlijsten en windveren; tegen de zijgevels aangebouwd een voormalig stalletje (thans keuken) onder met rode muldenpannen (bij nr. 10 gewijzigd) gedekt zadeldak en daarachter een vlakgedekte aanbouw uit ca. 1955; plint, (hoek)pilasters en decoratieve details gepleisterd; getoogde vensters, getoogde bovendorpels en ten dele met oorspronkelijke roedenverdeling (bij nr.10 verwijderd). De woningen (1916/1917), gelegen temidden van de afzonderlijke erven, zijn een deel van de in 1913-1918 door de Oranje Nassau Mijnen gebouwde mijnwerkerskolonie 'Schaesberg', die door zijn stedebouwkundige aanleg en overeenkomsten in architectuur, kleur- en materiaalgebruik een eenheid vormt en die een der gaafste en voor Nederland vrij zeldzame voorbeelden is van de op de internationale, 19e eeuwse (XIX B) traditie gebaseerde arbeiderswoningbouw door industrielen.

Description
Block of two dwellings erected in fine brickwork with storey under a mansard roof covered with red and blue moulded tiles (modified at no. 10) of which the eave soffit for the attic windows on the front and rear sides has been recessed in the centre, with profiled wooden gutter boards and wind braces; built against the side facades a former small stable (now kitchen) under a gabled roof covered with red moulded tiles (modified at no. 10) and behind it a flat-roofed extension from circa 1955; plinth, (corner) pilasters and decorative details plastered; arched windows, arched top lintels and partly with original glazing bars (removed at no. 10). The dwellings (1916/1917), situated in the midst of separate plots, are part of the miners' settlement 'Schaesberg' built in 1913-1918 by the Oranje Nassau Mines, which by its town-planning layout and similarities in architecture, colour and material use forms a unity and which is one of the most complete and for the Netherlands quite rare examples of workers' housing based on the international 19th century tradition and built by industrialists.
