Omschrijving
BOLWERKSPOORT. In 1957 ontgraven. Overblijfselen van de z.g. Dubbele- of Bolwerkspoort, een gecombineerde land- en waterpoort, gebouwd in 1506 en volgende jaren door Domenicus de Waghemaker en uitgebreid door Laurens Keldermans. Verwoest door het kanonvuur tijdens het beleg van 1596 toen Hulst door aartshertog Albertus van Oostenrijk veroverd werd. In 1618 bij de bouw van de nieuwe vesting met aarde bedekt.

Description
BOLWERKSPOORT. Excavated in 1957. Remains of the so-called Double or Bolwerkspoort, a combined land and water gate, built in 1506 and following years by Domenicus de Waghemaker and enlarged by Laurens Keldermans. Destroyed by cannon fire during the siege of 1596 when Hulst was conquered by Archduke Albert of Austria. In 1618 covered with earth during the construction of the new fortification.
