The register's description

De Ned. Herv.

The Dutch Reformed Church, founded around 1309 and then dedicated to St. Nicholas, elevated to a Collegiate Church around 1397, is a three-aisle cruciform church with choir, choir ambulatory, sacristy, south portal and west tower. After the fire of 1911 the church was restored under the direction of architect J.F.L. Frowein. Interior: in the choir stand two funeral monuments: 1st Grave tomb (14th century) with 4 recumbent figures of black marble, representing Gijsbrecht van IJsselstein, his son Arnold and their two wives. This monument was last restored by sculptor E.F. Georges (1857-1858); 2nd Grave tomb (first half of the 16th century) of black marble with a recumbent figure of sandstone, representing Aleid van Culemborg, died 1471. In the choir we find many gravestones set into the floor. In the sacristy on the north wall a painted floor plan of the church in a frame indicating "the tombs, cellars and burial grounds" (P. Lukias f; anno MDCCXXXV). On the east wall a painted wooden board in a frame, with the names of the ministers in golden letters. The church possesses four silver communion chalices, a silver baptismal font, two silver jugs, four fine copper crowns, 17th century. At the pulpit and the position of the lector copper reading desks (1775-1800). The tower was built between the years 1530-1540 and does not stand in the axis of the church. Architect Alessandro Pasqualini. The tower was restored according to plans by architect M. de Klerk by architect H.A.J. Baanders. The sculptural works are by Hildo Krop. Bell chamber with bell by A.H. van Bergen, 1931, diam. 113 cm. In the left pillar of the tower base of the church a stone sundial is set.
