Omschrijving
Vestingwerken. Het beloop van de vestingwerken, welke in 1681 vv. naar ontwerp van Menno van Coehoorn aangelegd waren en na 1876 zijn geslecht, wordt grotendeels aangegeven door de huidige singels; de bastions en de natte grachten zijn nog herkenbaar, maar worden in het westen doorsneden door de rijksweg van Den Bosch naar Nijmegen. Langs de Maaskade een walmuur met rondelen, op een waarvan, tegenover de Oliestraat, de kanonnen "Le Partisan" en "l'Intriguant" (1672) staan.

Description
Fortifications. The course of the fortifications, which were constructed from 1681 onwards according to a design by Menno van Coehoorn and were demolished after 1876, is largely indicated by the present-day canals; the bastions and wet moats are still recognisable, but are cut through in the west by the national highway from Den Bosch to Nijmegen. Along the Maaskade a rampart wall with redoubts, on one of which, opposite Oliestraat, the cannons "Le Partisan" and "l'Intriguant" (1672) stand.
