Omschrijving
Stoomgemaal van de polder Mastenbroek, Kamperzeedijk Oost 7. Scheepsradstoomgemaal, gebouwd in 1855-1856 naar ontwerp van de ingenieurs Beyerinck en Van Diggelen.
Ketelruimte en machinehuis onder een schilddak, aan de achterzijde aansluitend tegen een puntgevel. Hiernaast het schepraderenhuis, eveneens onder een schilddak met puntgevel aan de achterzijde. De oorspronkelijke halfcirkelvormige ramen met ijzeren roedenverdeling grotendeels nog aanwezig. Tegen de middelste pilaster in de voorgevel van het schepraderenhuis de stichtingssteen.
De schoorsteen staat op een hoge, later gestucte(?) sokkel. Inventaris: In de machineruimte een horizontale eencilinder-stoommachine met kleppen, geleverd door de machinefabriek "De Atlas" te Amsterdam in 1856. Voorts de tandwieloverbrenging met gietijzeren raderen en het vliegwiel (diameter 8 m), alsmede enig werkplaatsmeubilair (o.a. bord met oude gereedschappen).
In het ketelhuis een geheel ingemetselde ketel met twee vuurgangen, vervaardigd door Ten Horn te Veendam in 1925, compleet met toebehoren en enig werkplaatsmeubilair (werkbank, gietijzeren boormachine, petroleumlamp enz.).
In het schepraderenhuis twee originele schepraderen van gietijzer en hout, verbonden door een klauwkoppeling.
Dit gaaf bewaarde gemaal is vooral van betekenis door zijn technische installatie. Laatste voorbeeld in Nederland van een gemaal met een langzaam werkende horizontale stoommachine uit ca. 1850.

Description
Steam pump station of the polder Mastenbroek, Kamperzeedijk Oost 7. Paddle wheel steam pump station, built in 1855-1856 according to the design of the engineers Beyerinck and Van Diggelen.
Boiler room and engine house under a hipped roof, adjoining on the rear side against a pointed gable. Next to it the paddle wheel house, also under a hipped roof with pointed gable on the rear side. The original semicircular windows with iron glazing bars largely still present. Against the middle pilaster in the front facade of the paddle wheel house the foundation stone.
The chimney stands on a high, later stuccoed (?) base. Inventory: In the engine room a horizontal single-cylinder steam engine with valves, supplied by the machine factory "De Atlas" in Amsterdam in 1856. Furthermore the gear transmission with cast iron wheels and the flywheel (diameter 8 m), as well as some workshop furniture (including board with old tools).
In the boiler house a completely built-in boiler with two fireboxes, manufactured by Ten Horn at Veendam in 1925, complete with accessories and some workshop furniture (workbench, cast iron drilling machine, paraffin lamp etc.).
In the paddle wheel house two original paddle wheels of cast iron and wood, connected by a claw coupling.
This well-preserved pump station is of particular significance for its technical installation. Last example in the Netherlands of a pump station with a slow-running horizontal steam engine from circa 1850.
