Omschrijving
KASTEEL-RAADHUIS. Omgracht, grotendeels bakstenen bouwwerk van middeleeuwse oorsprong, bestaande uit drie woonvleugels om een binnenplaats, afgesloten door een toegangspoort tussen twee zware torens aan de noordzijde. Gerestaureerd in 1940 en na de zware oorlogsschade van 1944. Gewelfde kelderverdieping en ronde overbouw van de toren uit omstreeks 1300, de kelders onder de westvleugel van later datum. De verdieping onmiddellijk boven de kelder kort na 1421, met stenen kruiskozijnen, driezijdige arkel aan de zuidzijde. De verdieping daarboven, met houten kruiskozijnen, in 1609 toegevoegd, toen ook de door graatgewelven gedekte galerij met bogen op Toscaanse zuilen aan de binnenplaats gebouwd werd, waaraan de cartouchesteen met jaartal herinnert. Description
CASTLE-TOWN HALL. Surrounded by a moat, largely brick building of medieval origin, consisting of three residential wings around a courtyard, closed off by an access gate between two heavy towers on the north side. Restored in 1940 and after the severe war damage of 1944. Vaulted cellar storey and round superstructure of the tower from approximately 1300, the cellars under the west wing of later date. The storey immediately above the cellar shortly after 1421, with stone cross windows, three-sided arch on the south side. The storey above, with wooden cross windows, added in 1609, at which time also the gallery with barrel vaults covered by arches on Tuscan columns was built at the courtyard, to which the cartouche stone with date bears witness. In 1628 the towers were heightened.
