Omschrijving
Nieuwe of St. Nicolaaskerk (Ned. Herv.). HALLENKERK van twee beuken, elk met eigen dak, met 5/8 koorsluitingen. Houten tongewelven met trekbalken. De oostelijke delen dateren van ca. 1500; het overige is herbouwd na een brand in 1568.
De beuken worden gescheiden door zware, natuurstenen zuilen met krulkoolkapitelen, waarboven eenvoudige geprofileerde scheibogen. Onder de tongewelven muurstijlen op renaissance-consoles. Het uitwendige, versierd met natuurstenen banden, heeft zware tweemaal versneden beren en tegen de westelijke gevel, waarvan de hoeken zijn afgeschuind, een portaal (XVI) met twee korfbogige doorgangen en een gewelf van drie traveeën: een stergewelf, geflankeerd door twee ribloze kruisgewelven met renaissancekraagstenen en een flauwe welvingslijn. Boven het portaal een houten toren van twee geledingen (XIX b). Aanbouwen (XVIII) tegen de zuidgevel. Inventaris: kansel (ca. 1600). Klokkenstoel met klok van J. Tolhuis, 1555, diam. 76,2 cm. In de toren staan twee mechanische torenuurwerken buiten werking.
Fraai gebouw van algemeen belang wegens bijzondere oudheidkundige en kunsthistorische waarde.

Description
New or St. Nicholas Church (Dutch Reformed). HALL CHURCH of two aisles, each with its own roof, with 5/8 choir closures. Wooden barrel vaults with tie beams. The eastern parts date from ca. 1500; the remainder was rebuilt after a fire in 1568.
The aisles are separated by heavy, natural stone columns with acanthus capitals, above which simple moulded transverse arches. Beneath the barrel vaults wall shafts on Renaissance consoles. The exterior, decorated with ashlar bands, has heavy twice-carved bears and against the western facade, whose corners are chamfered, a portal (16th century) with two basket-arched passages and a vault of three bays: a star vault, flanked by two non-ribbed cross vaults with Renaissance corbel stones and a shallow vault line. Above the portal a wooden tower of two storeys (19th century second phase). Extensions (18th century) against the south facade. Inventory: pulpit (ca. 1600). Bell frame with bell by J. Tolhuis, 1555, diameter 76.2 cm. In the tower stand two mechanical tower clocks not in working order.
Fine building of general importance due to exceptional archaeological and art-historical value.
