The Department's description
Exterior description and setting
Small neat road bridge over the River Blackwater, just S of the small hamlet of Ardmillan, c.1.5 miles N of the village of Killinchy.
The bridge is built of basalt rubble with two segmental arches and a cutwater to each side. The parapet is has cement render coping. A metal water pipe has been inserted through the cutwater on the E side. The bridge is partly covered in ivy but appears to be in good condition.
The bridge is set at a slight angle to the road.
Historical information
A bridge is marked on this site on the OS maps of 1834 and 1859-60, which probably corresponds to the structure we see today.
