The Department's description
Exterior description and setting
Site of former (late Victorian looking) two storey farm house, burnt down in c.1990, with new dwelling now built in place.
Description from 1st Survey: " 2/sty house with farm buildings adjoining. Roof slated, gable ends, plain barges. Yellow brick chimneys. Walls rendered and painted. Bevelled quoins. F/FL has 2 two/ light and one single D/H windows, no astragals, architrave, segmental arch head and keystone. Gr/FL has two 2/light similar windows and central doorway framed with fluted pilasters below frieze lintol and segmental arch cornice. Panelled door and plain fanlight."
Historical information
Buildings are shown on this general site on the OS Maps of 1833/4 and 1858-60, but none match the exact positioning of the house which stood here until recently. The description and photograph (compiled during the first survey in 1971) suggests that the house on this site (which was destroyed by fire in c.1990), was late Victorian, perhaps c.1880.
