Exterior description and setting

Modern looking two storey terrace house, originally one storey, now largely rebuilt with PVC windows, rough cast render and a fibre cement slate roof. The property is set within the terrace on the E side of Church Street, to the N of Portaferry town centre.

Front (W) elevation ground floor has a modern timber door to left and two PVC windows to right, with small top hung upper pane leaded between double glazing. Smooth narrow vertical bands to either side of windows and door. Slim concrete cills. Smooth broad course above door and windows and across entire facade, and smooth painted band to simulate plinth at base.

First floor has two windows similar to ground floor, only broader.

Large ’L’ shaped, flat roofed extension to rear – under construction at time of survey.

Pitched roof with fibre cement slates and single red brick chimney with one pot. Cast iron gutters and down spout.

Informed that there were no original interior features.

Historical information

This house has largely been reconstructed c.1980s, when an upper storey was added to a single storey dwelling. The original dwelling may have been of pre 1834 construction.
