The Department's description
Exterior description and setting
A single storey building of red brick with slated gabled roofs with a projecting gabled porch to the front and a metal ventilator on the main roof. Main entrance faces east. Segmental arched sashed windows, but most partially blocked. Plaque over front doorway inscribed "St Joseph's National School 1914". Modern gabled extension to rear return. The building is in a poor condition and has had window and door openings to the rear permanently blocked up.
SETTING; The building stands within the built-up area of the village, facing the road but set back from it with a lawn in front. Modern timber ranch-style fence to front boundary, with a pair of original ornamental scrolling wrought iron gates mounted on modern steel posts.

Evaluation
This is an early 20th century school building which retains some of its original exterior features but it has been spoiled by later alterations and additions.
