Exterior description and setting

A 1½ storey, three-bay rendered house which has been thoroughly modernised.

Described in the first survey in 1972 as "A 1½ storey roughcast house. The panelled door is flanked by full-height sidelights rising to enclose a four pane fanlight."

The building now has wet dashed walls, painted white, on a smooth rendered plinth; roof of concrete tiles with three modern flush rooflights to the entrance front; one chimney on each gable, rendered as main walling; modern rectangular timber windows, fixed lights with top-hung vents, in stained hardwood; main entrance in similar style and materials to windows.

SETTING: The building stands in a rural area facing the public road but set well back from it within its own garden; approached by a tarmac driveway from a rustic brick gatescreen.

Historical information

Precise date of building not known but it appears on the OS map of 1832-3. Comprehensively modernised in the 1980s to 1990s.
