The Department's description
Exterior description and setting
Single storey, gabled vernacular dwelling of probable pre 1834 construction, now used as a farm outbuilding. The property is set on the E side of the Mill Road, just S of the small village of Kilcoo, c.4 miles SW of Castlewellan.
The building is set on a slight slope, running S to N. The front façade faces W and is asymmetrical. To the right of centre is a small lean-to porch with doorway now without door. To the left of this a small window with sash frame. To the right o f the porch is a similar window.
The N gable has a very small shed attached, but is otherwise blank. To the S a larger rubble-built shed is attached to the house. This has a slated roof and doorway to front. The rear of the house has one single window, as front, to left.
The façade is harled and white washed to front. The roof is covered in corrugated asbestos. Single rendered chimney stack to S side. No rw goods.
Small, single storey, rubble-built, gabled outbuildings to S.
Historical information
A building is shown on this site on the OS maps of 1834 and 1859. The property appears to have been abandoned in the mid 20th century and is now occasionally used as a farm outbuilding.
