The Department's description
Exterior description and setting
Small, single storey vernacular farm house of probable mid 19th century origin. The building is set on the N side of the Slievenaman Road, c.5 miles W of Newcastle.
The front façade faces roughly S and is symmetrical. To the centre of this facade is a relatively large, lean-to porch. This has a doorway (with timber sheeted door) to the E and a small window opening with sash frame. To the left of the porch is a small window with modern frame. To the right is a similar window.
Both gables are blank. To the rear the is a small two pane window to right.
The façade is largely harled. The gabled roof is covered in natural slate. Harled parapets. There is a rendered chimney stack to each gable. No rw goods.
Well to drive to S of house.
Historical information
There is a building shown on this site on the on the OS map of 1859 which in the second valuation of 1863 was in occupied by a Patrick Cunningham, and possessed the paltry rateable value of 15 shillings. It is probable that this is the same dwelling we see today.
