The Department's description
Exterior description and setting
Much altered two storey house. Gabled asbestos slate roof a,nd cement rendered walls. Ground floor comprises black tiled 1950s shop front with central doorway containing two stained glazed doors with transom light above. Large square window on either side of door. Above door in three-dimensional white italic letters ‘The Satellite’. Between the ‘The’ and ‘Satellite’ is a blue bulb housed in a circular black fitting. Two modern top hung windows on both first and second floors. Between these windows are two sets of vertical letters spelling ‘café’ and an internally lit projecting sign
Historical information
A building is shown here on the 1835 OS map. The 1835 valuation notes its occupant as Miss Thompson. It is described as being three storeys high in the 1863 valuation.
