Exterior description and setting

Demolished.

Described in the first survey in 1970 as:

'Pre 1834. A single-storey house with rendered walls and hipped slated roof on modillions. The door and windows are set in semi-circular headed recesses. Eight-pane casement windows are protected by grilles. Low interest.'

Historical information

A small symmetrical one-storey house is depicted beside turnpike gates on 1771 map of Carneyhough. Described in 1836 Valuation Book as 33’ x 17’6” x 11’, with a 12’ x 15’ x 6’6” return.
