The Department's description
Exterior description and setting
Left of a pair of three-storey, two-bay houses on north side of Corry’s Square.
Hipped artificial slate roof is shared with adjacent house. Semicircular plastic rainwater goods.
Wall to south elevation is lined cement render, with render quoins at left. Main entrance at ground floor left consists is a modern six panelled painted timber door with obscured glass transom over. To its right is a single 1/1 modern top-hung plastic window with granite cill. There are two similar windows to each upper floor, in line with openings below, those to second floor are diminished in height.
West elevation abuts a larger building. East is party wall with adjacent property. (HB16/24/009A).
Rear elevation at ground floor was not inspected, but has a modern extension to ground floor left. Remaining wall is cement rendered. To right, between ground and first floors is a single 1/1 plastic landing window, with similar between first and second floors. There are similar single windows to first and second floor left. Rear yard is enclosed by a rendered wall.
Historical information
Erected along with the adjoining house and the pair on the opposite corner when the houses along Maginnis St were erected. Not shown on the 1861 OS map, but cited in the 1865 Valuation revision book, indicating an early 1860s construction date.
