Exterior description and setting

Right of a pair of three-storey, two-bay houses on north side of Corry’s Square.

Hipped artificial slate roof shared with adjacent house. Semicircular plastic rainwater goods.

Wall to south elevation is lined cement render with stepped render quoins at right. Main entrance at ground floor right is a modern six panelled painted timber door with obscured glass transom over. To its left is a single 1/1 modern top-hung plastic window with granite cill. There are two similar windows to each upper floor, in line with openings below, those to second floor are diminished in height.

East elevation (to Maginnis Street) is lined cement rendered and devoid of openings. West is party wall with adjacent property.

North (rear) elevation is cement rendered. There is a modern timber and glass door to left and a single storey monopitched extension (unfinished) abutting rear wall which has a 1/1 plastic window. To left, between ground and first floors is a single 1/1 top hung plastic landing window, with similar between first and second floors. There are similar single windows to first and second floor at right. A rendered wall with a modern plywood door encloses rear yard (to Maginnis Street).

Historical information

Erected along with the adjoining house and the pair on the opposite corner when the houses along Maginnis St were erected. Not shown on the 1861 OS map, but cited in the 1865 Valuation revision book, indicating an early 1860s construction date.
