Exterior description and setting
Third house from left in a terrace of eight identical three storey/ two bay late 19thC houses on NE side of Church Street.
Pitched natural slate roof with large rendered chimney to left end of ridge shared with adjoining house. Moulded render eaves course carries ogee rainwater goods. Walls are lined rendered and painted. Continuous cill course at first floor level. Left bay is narrower than the right one and contains the main entrance set in a semicircular-headed opening with moulded stucco architrave and with decorative key block. Four panelled door with beaded muntin and raised, fielded and bolection moulded panels. Over is a plainly glazed radial fanlight. Directly above is a single 1/1 modern top hung casement window with an architrave as the doorcase but that to second floor is a 1/1 sliding sash window that is slightly diminished in height.
The right bay has a canted bay window rising full height, with canted roof tied into main roof and sharing common eaves. Each face of the bay window has a 1/1 sliding sash window with horns. Those to second floor are slightly diminished in height.
Small front garden is enclosed by a finely dressed granite dwarf wall which carries modern wrought metal railings.
Left gable is party wall with adjacent house (HB16/11/033B)
Rear elevation: no access gained.
Right gable is party wall with adjacent house (HB16/11/033D).

Evaluation
One of eight houses in a terrace on Church Street. The terrace has been affected by alterations but is still a significant set piece in the town. The façade of this house has been altered and the building has been subdivided into three flats.
General comments
HBU file record - 3 1988 – p/application for conversion to 3 flats – not acceptable because windows, sills other details altered; no further activity until presentation to HBC in 1990 re cumulative inappropriate alterations to rear that Branch felt should now be rectified after originally concentrating on front, HBC recommended Planning Service should note details of the case
