The Department's description
Exterior description and setting
One-storey (+ loft)/ one-bay building to east side of associated dwelling house (HB16/5/047A), aligned parallel with road. Pitched natural slate roof without rainwater goods. Walls are dressed and squared random rubble granite. All openings except main entrance are now infilled with concrete blockwork. All window openings were shuttered and have 3-piece granite heads and stooled cills.
Main façade faces north to road. At right is a pair of t+g sliding doors set within a segmental arch (with splayed voussoirs). At left end is a window. Left gable has one opening at left to loft. Rear elevation has a door at left and two small openings at right. Right gable has a door at centre (5-piece granite head).
To front of barn, between window opening and door, is a paved granite horse walk complete with cast/wrought iron gin. A bevel gear drives a small pinion, the shaft of which goes underneath the walk to the thresher inside the barn.

Erected in 1935 by Niall Trainor, Peter and Daniel Cunningham. (all stone masons).

Evaluation
Barn is a good example of the stonemason’s craft and is complete in every respect. A survivor of what was once relatively common agricultural building.
