The Department's description
Exterior description and setting
A single semicircular span carries the Newcastle - Kilkeel road over the Mullagh River. Of squared granite blocks in regular courses with finely dressed voussoirs. Downstream banks faced with stone. Very overgrown.
Historical information
First depicted on the 1859 OS map, indicating a mid-19th century date of construction. Superseded another bridge a short distance downstream which is marked on the 1834 map (HB16/02/061).
