The Department's description

The partial remains of a single-pot kiln cut into an east-facing slope.

The frontage, which is c.4.3m wide and 4.3m high, is of split Silurian rubble. Steps now lead down its front face to the draw hole, which has a segmental arch and instepping corbelling. The actual hole is blocked.

The side of the pot has been partially removed to enable internal access. It is 2.1m in internal diameter and partially infilled. Much of this walling has probably been rebuilt when the structure was refurbished as an ornamental garden feature.

A limekiln is shown here on the 1834 OS 6” map.
