The Department's description
Exterior description and setting
A modern concrete lime kiln comprising an in-situ reinforced concrete base of circular form surmounted by a cylindrical steel flue topped by a square brick flue with concrete cap.
Setting: the structure stands in a grassy field, built into the side of a hill and partly surrounded by bushes.
Historical information
Appears on OS map of 1965. Ballycarry Lime Works was just a quarry on OS map of 1902; named as Ballycarry Lime Works on OS map of 1921 but concrete kiln not shown.
